About Nibandana
Nibandana is a free, open-source search engine for Indian court judgments. It indexes Supreme Court and High Court judgments to make them searchable, fast, and accessible to everyone.
Built for law students, lawyers, researchers, and anyone who needs to find Indian court judgments quickly — especially on low-cost devices and slow connections.
Status
Nibandana is in public beta. This means the project is live and free to use, but still very much a work in progress. We're actively expanding court coverage, improving search relevance, refining the interface, and fixing rough edges as we find them.
During the beta, expect some incomplete data — not every court is fully indexed yet, and a small number of judgments may be missing, mis-tagged, or linked to PDFs that fail to load. Search ranking, filters, and citation formats will continue to evolve based on how people actually use the tool, and you may occasionally see UI changes from one visit to the next.
If you rely on Nibandana for serious legal research, please treat results as a starting point and verify against the original judgment PDF on eCourts. If something looks wrong, missing, or confusing, we'd genuinely like to hear about it — bug reports, feature requests, and feedback from real users are how this gets better, faster.
Data Sources
All judgment data is sourced from public datasets and made available under open licenses.
Judgment data sourced from eCourts via the Indian High Court Judgments and Indian Supreme Court Judgments datasets on AWS Open Data Registry, managed by Dattam Labs. Licensed under CC-BY-4.0.
Technology
Nibandana is built with Next.js, MeiliSearch, and Tailwind CSS. It runs on a single server with Cloudflare CDN for fast access across India.
